Summer Road Trip Day 2

Day 2 we played in Charleston, SC for the day. We pretty much did EVERY thing there was to do in a span of a day.

First thing was to head to the beach! I mean,  c'mon, do you know me? Of course I'm going to find a beach to check out.  We went to Folly Beach. It was a cute little beach "town."  I would have loved to have been able to walk around and check out the shops. But I settled for just walking on the beach. It was really windy there, and the sand was a lot different than our beaches back in FL.

This actually might be one of my favoritest (yes, that's a word!) pictures of me yet!

Autumn found some really neat shells to bring home! She loves to find seashells. I think she gets that from my dad; he's always walking down the beach finding shells.

After the beach, we headed over to Mount Pleasant and took a look at the Yorktown. But it was pretty pricey to get INTO the ship, so we just decided to look at it from afar....I know...we're cheap!

Then we headed downtown to check out City Market. It's a really cool shopping area. I want to say it's like a flea market, but it's not really "flea market junk." It's things that people make or what would be like actual little shops.

It was a little easier to check it out since Brooklynn spent most of the time there sleeping in the stroller (thank you, B!)

Afterwards, we found a place right by City Market for lunch, The Noisy Oyster.

It was a nice little local restaurant with a great ambiance. We sat along the edge next to a window and had a great breeze and a great view. The food was yummy too!

We spotted an ice cream store across the street so we bribed the kids that if they were good we would head over there.  We opted out of the candy and chose to get the gelato instead, seeming as though we were all melting from the heat and walking around all day!

EEK! I found a Tervis store!!! If you know me, you know that I already have quite  the Tervis selection...so what's one more? Besides, this one I could say I got in Charleston, right?? Just nod your head yes.

So I got me a new sport bottle one, which is actually perfect for being on vacation. AND the girls each got one...Hey, it's was Ron's idea to get them one, so he can't yell at me for having even more Tervis cups in the house.

At this point, we were so tired of being hot and tired, and my "heat headache" started around this point, so we opted for an indoor activity: The Aquarium.  I will say that it was more than I wanted to spend, but I was willing to spend the money to go inside with A.C....yes, I know. I live in FL, but I don't hang out outside for long periods of time without having a body of water near me to jump in and cool off.

This is our fishy faces...lol

And here are my little birdies in their nest in the mountains.

The coolest part for us was the saltwater area...they found a crab that was playing with them...

And they had a hands-on area where you could hold starfish and sea urchins and such. Autumn loved that part.

We ended our day having dinner at Taco Boy. They had some seriously good guacamole. I don't even like guacamole, but I really liked this one!  We met up with my friend, Katie, and her family (if you follow my teacher blog, I'm sure you know her as Queen of the First Grade Jungle!)  She is seriously so sweet, I just love her!

Her whole family came too. I was just so amazed by her super smart Nash. Her husband and mine were such good sports about letting us meet up to eat! But they had a good time too, Ron actually talked - and that rarely happens! ha! And it was so sweet how Autumn and Emmie were best friends within 2 minutes. They were having a great time. Autumn even woke up this morning and the first thing that she said was "Mommy, I miss Emmie! Can we see her today?" Melt my heart.

I'll be back to do the next round of our trip!

  3. I have been to Charleston the last two spring breaks. I love the shopping! Both times I have hit the Tervis store to get new Charleston cups. You can never have too many.
