Road Trip Prepping!

We are about to embark on what seems like the longest road trip ever! I say that, only because of the girls. If it was just Ron and me, then I wouldn't care, but having a 2 year old and a 4 year old...strapped down, in the car, for hours upon hours while my patience level is already cut in half because of this pregnancy?? That does NOT sound like a good time to me.

So, aside from basic entertainment, like movies, ipad, crayons and paper (and such), I am packing edible reinforcements!

I took the liberty of portioning out all of our snacks so that they are easily accessible in the car, but then we'll have lots of "to-go" snacks when we're out and about in the towns.

The food we have is:  Pirate's Booty, Goldfish, Teddy Grahams, Welch's Gummies, a trail mix I made for me, some chocolate covered berries (100 calorie snack packs), Yogurt Covered Raisins, grapes, strawberries, and CapriSun Waters. I also added to the mix some mini muffins for breakfast, and Veggie Straws, already portioned.  I'm trying to keep the snacks somewhat healthy since I'm sure we'll be eating out A LOT.

Although I like to use the generic ones for portioning out the snacks, I really like to have the real deal when "storing" foods...like all the small bags of snacks that I didn't want floating around and then you'd never be able to find them when you need them??

Or when putting little boxes in plastic so that the ice doesn't soak the boxes. OH! And don't forget to put the creamer in plastic too...in case one of them busts open! eek! THAT would be a disaster. Yes, I'm bringing creamer. Most places where you can get a quick cheap cup of coffee don't have good creamer...and FORGET about hotel rooms - ha! And no, no Starbucks for us. I actually don't remember the last time I was at a Starbucks.

And putting the kids to work makes it even more fun (umm...a slight sense of sarcasm..ha!) Although, I know that Autumn is all proud of her organization, so she'll be excited to get anything out of the cooler.

'

Then, we put it all in a 55 quart cooler, and while it looks all nice and full, I'm sure that won't last long. These kids know how to eat!

Now that our food is all packed for the road, I guess it's time to pack for the kids!

Guess we're done with that!

Hope you don't mind, but I'll be "journaling" our trip as we go (if I can!) so that I don't forget any of the details! The hardest part of traveling is that you are going to fast, you forget half the stuff that you want to remember. So that's really why I want to blog as we go.
